![]() |
This tutorial is sized to make a pencil case type pouch approximately 3 x 2 x 7 inches, but these can be made in almost any size or proportions. The 'oilcloth' outer (PVC coated cotton or linen) makes for nice square corners and is splashproof and wipe-able, this one is lined with quilters' cotton.
Outer: 1 piece 'oilcloth'; 9½ x 10½ inches |

STEP 1: Cut your fabrics as shown above, and find a suitable zip |
STEP 2: At the ironing board, press the small piece of cotton fabric in half lengthways, right sides together. Unfold and press each half again likewise. |
||||||
STEP 3: Top stitch down both sides of this long folded piece, 1/8th inch from each edge, and cut it in half crosswise. Set these two grip-tabs aside for later. |
STEP 4: Lay the oilcloth right side up and align the zip face down along the 9½ inch edge overhanging no more than ½ inch at the open end. |
